i used to care because i thought i had to
then i stopped caring because i didn’t see a reason to
but not caring had it’s price
it demanded dishonesty out of me
instead of befriending my demons, i ran away
and i fell down a dark hole
where i remained a long time
so long that even a second felt like a lifetime
but little by little
i awakened from my misery
i stumbled upon some good things
even caught myself smiling
and like the butterfly that causes a hurricane
a smile can breed a unviverse of joy
thus the man who was a voluntary slave
became a man who tried to be free
who tried and tried and tried
and failed and failed and failed
not yet knowing that this cycle,
this vicious cycle,
a cycle which few can bare
is actually the seemingly endless gate
to the ultimate treasure
that this life can offer us
the one that is buried
deeply within us
until one day
when i realized
that i now care again
not because i need to
but because i want to
because i must
because not caring,
is the blossoming of deathless death
a most poisonous drink
even to the evil hearted
it’s hard to convey
each one’s chosen paths
nor shall we be dismayed
of others unwillingness to grasp
those obvious truths
that we also once denied
these thoughts now chewed and theorized
puzzled upon foolishly with wiser eyes
a hypothesis to say the least
to understand what grows must seek
in fact though, our work has barely begun
