Human being, human having, human doing.
I really like to classify and categorize things. It helps me see things more clearly and understand the relationship between everything. There’s so much going on and so much information available that it can get pretty overwhelming if you don’t attempt to make some sense of it.
Although that is true, I also don’t like categorizing too much when it comes to art because I think it all serves the same purpose. Music is music. Movies are movies. I am only interested in experiencing stuff that moves me. If it doesn’t, then I don’t like it. Simple.
I’m also a very goal oriented person. I like to know where I am, where I’m going and where I’ve been as far as my whole life is concerned. I used to disregard this way of living, rebelling against the idea that I am bound by schedules, goals or even maps. Perhaps it’s good to live life like that occasionally. But deep down inside we all want to feel well being and I really think that in the long run, it is essential that we know what is going on as much as possible.
I realized that underlying everything I am “currently” doing, are three ultimate goals (at least for this part of my life).
* To have financial freedom
* To be in supreme health & fitness
* To travel around the world creating/playing music
All my actions and decisions right now take me either closer to or farther away from these goals. I know that as long as I keep my compass pointed in the direction towards these three goals, all else will unfold before me.
(Regarding the first goal, I am in support of the idea of a “resource based economy” instead of the “monetary based economy” we currently live in and thus, if that system was to become a reality, that goal would become redundant).
Only after I have reached these goals and lived/experienced them fully, will I be ready/qualified for the next phase –> starting a family and leaving a legacy, which is essentially what everything is done for. How long will this “current” phase last? The only answer to give is that it’ll take as long as it takes even if that means my whole life. Of course I will remain forever open to meeting that person or even reading that book that will rock my world and turn everything upside down. I suspect “that” person may even be reading this…
In the end these are just guidelines to live life by. The individual moments that make up our lives are and should be treated as equally precious. Doing that is the key to the gates of bliss.
Wow, perhaps I should lay off from the spiritual books for awhile
