My Health Journey So Far

(post from 30bananas/day community website)

Been on the health path for almost 3 years now. It began while I dated an Irish girl who was a vegan. She lent me a book on the Okinawan centenarians which was the spark for me. I have always loved fruit, hated cooking and I’ve never been much into the culinary arts. So realizing that eating fruits & veggies is not only the healthiest for me but also best for my planet and everybody inhabiting it, was a revelation for me.

Since then I have experimented, researched and studied health, nutrition, fitness and everything related to that from all possible angles and continue to do so. I have learned a lot, failed greatly, had some successes but I have always got back up on my feet to try again. I know what works, what doesn’t, what I have to do, what I shouldn’t do.

This knowledge and confidence is very empowering. Now it’s a new year (2011) and I made a decision to prioritize health & fitness over everything else in my life. I believe that doing that is the first and greatest step towards health.

I have been on this site on/off while on my path. Mostly I’ve just followed the discussions without taking part. I genuinely feel like some of the most intelligent and inspiring people are on this site (or will be). It’s for those that don’t want half-measures; who don’t compromise their health for anything, for anyone. Who know that being healthy and fit ourselves is the greatest gift we can give to the world.

In that regard I am very grateful for DR and Freelee for starting this and also Dr. Graham and the Natural Hygiene principles that came before them and will come long after them and us. Ultimately, I am grateful towards nature for giving us such an elaborate system of life to be apart of.

Finally I want to say that I truly believe that eating more fresh, sweet fruit is the answer to most of our problems in this world – and I don’t make that statement lightly. Even Buddha, Jesus, Gandhi… and George Carlin (heheh) could’ve eaten more fruit imho!

People are not undernourished, they are underfruitished!

The more days I am greeted by, the more I am convinced of this powerful truth.
