I’ve been making websites for almost 15 years now (I was a musician for 10 years) and in the beginning I was just coding it myself with basic HTML. And then WordPress came along and made it much easier.
WordPress is a content-management system where you can build your site with templates and themes that you can choose. To get the basic layout it takes a few minutes. All you need is a domain (the address of the site) and hosting (the place where it exists). These will vary in cost so it’s wise to shop around a bit.
My suggestion is the Rubix site builder which uses WordPress (which is what I use) and comes with all kinds of other free trainings. As far as I’m concerned, this is the industry standard and you can get your site going immediately (it costs $0 to get started to see if it’s right for you).
A few suggestions to get you going in the right direction as you are building your site:
* Choose a theme that is simple and aesthetically soothing.
* Develop a blueprint for your site (write it out on paper).
* Choose 3-5 main topics you want to cover which are related to your niche.
* Once you have the core of the site ready, start building it from there by creating content on a daily basis.
* Your website doesn’t have to be perfect. Just get started and have something you can build and make better as you learn more. The only perfection you should be chasing is the perfection of your daily process for growth, gratitude and enjoyment in your every day existence, whether it’s your self, your business or your relationships.
It really isn’t anymore difficult than that to get started. I hope you have enjoyed my little tutorial and if you have any comments or questions don’t hesitate to write below or send me an email. I’d be more than happy to help. You can do this!
