ADDICTED TO BOOKS
I’m addicted to books. I keep buying more. Nowadays only for kindle because it’s more convenient. And sometimes I sell or give them away before I have even read them. All kinds of books. I have about 10 categories. I tell myself they are an investment in my future. In understanding the world. And remembering to enjoy this life. Living through others. Seeing how they see things. Winners, losers, experts, frauds, poets, prophets. I have an insatiable thirst to dive into the minds of other men and women. Science. Woowoo. Novels. History. Politics. Selfhelp. Health. Conspiracy. Memoir. I want it all. If I could read all these books I might become one of the smartest people on Earth if for no other reason than learning deep within that all this knowledge and experience is futile and maybe Socrates was right but we have to open all these doors and see how infinite reality truly is to fully innerstand that deep truth of knowing that we don’t know which leads to an upgraded form of ignorance is bliss. Maybe one day I will quit reading forever and just dive into emptiness/stillness/silence but for now this is my school of life. Books are my number one drug of choice to the point that it is becoming a bit of a problem (notice the self-justifications?). They also make great gifts.
