Purity Complex

For the last 5 months I’ve been living like a monk. No booze or sugar or coffee. Or people. Mostly eating whole foods. Staying home and making music and reading a lot of books and watching movies. I go to the gym and running on alternate days. And 36 hour fasts once per week on saturdays. But I can’t continue living like this so next month gonna loosen up a bit. The isolation is good for creativity in some ways but also challenging in others. You are forced to develop your own perspectives on things and not succumb to the influence of groups and crowds. The downside is that days start to blur and all books/movies become the same or so it seems. I haven’t performed for a few years and not sure how I will do that in the future with this VV thing. Just trying to be someone else and do things a little differently. Someone better. Something unique. Or perhaps authentic is a more suitable term because how unique can we ever really be when we all breathe oxygen and are basically construed to this life support system called nature (sun, sky, water, etc). I miss morning coffee. The way it gets your day going officially. Putting in a CD and pressing play. Sitting in the living room in the early morning hours as the caffeine kicks in. Or walking down the street to the gas station to drink coffee and write poetry. And I miss travelling the world which I did for 30 years (1989-2019). Making music is a way to capture emotional landscapes. That’s what I do regardless of whatever else is going on in my life. Sonic architect. VV
