gods are laughing book

Chapter 1

The problem with socialism is that it makes life too easy for people like me who refuse to work. I haven’t had a job contract since 2006. That’s 17 years ago. I get money every month from the finnish government to pay rent, pay the bills and enough food and drink to survive on. Maybe a book or cd or new pair of pants or now and then save up for an appliance or something more expensive. Why bother with fame or success?

The upside is I have time. Time to work on my art, music, writing, poetry and experiment without the pressure of bosses, deadlines or record labels. I am a man without industry. Without religion. Without work morale. The system failed to brainwash me into desiring its dreams. I said fuck you long ago and never really looked back. Best decision I ever made. Lost and free.

Chapter 2

Keep losing confidence in my writing so I let things settle and forget. How many times I have started this, lost count. Now sitting here in the sun drinking coffee and listening to Big Bill Broonzy. It’s so warm I decide to take my shirts off. The time is 9:20 am. The weather this summer has been highly unusual and unpredictable. What next? Well I need to clean up my social media profiles. I am revealing too much. Need to pull the curtains back and just kind of disappear. I don’t want to be part of this hyper connected modern world 24/7. If someone wants that kind of access to me, they will have to pay premium. I am not some some dungeon rat artist who just works for free.

I don’t know what this book is supposed to be nor if it will stay like this. This is my world. I am the king. You go where I choose to take you. Memoir, fiction, first perspon, third person, fantasy, who knows. Ultimately it’s a confession and title refers to the meaninglessness of our supposed importance. We are too small to really matter. We can have an effect of course. Depends how valuable our work is considered by the masses. Cult figures can cause ripples too and if their work is stolen by some big shot type a salesman hustler then all bets are off.
