Villains Are Silly

I read a book about using persuasion secrets of villains and I wanted to review it here but because I didn’t like the book I don’t want to mention the name of it.

The title of the book got me interested enough to read it and while I appreciate the unique perspective, I think it’s a little silly in the end. Being a villain is a stupid comic book false ideal. I’d rather be Nietzsche’s überman.

I don’t think characters like The Joker are as brilliant as many people think, I think that kind of recklessness is amateurish and dishonest. Now don’t get me wrong, a good anti-hero can be very inspiring (eg. Walter White) but there has to be goodness traits also which makes them more human and relatable. Maybe if we could actually see The Joker’s origins we could see what is underneath all the vitriol. Otherwise you’re just an idiot wearing make up.
Radical kindness is sexy (note: that doesn’t mean succumbing to the will of others). Serve others by giving them what they really need, not just what they say or think they want. Study human nature. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Connect with people on a deep level. Villains don’t connect with anyone, they are moral cowards.
It is important to construct and maintain our solid sense of individuality while building a society of other empowered individuals, especially those we invite into our community. Despite the doomsdayers and naysayers I do think that is the direction we are going towards. But with great freedom comes great responsibility. Villains just want to destroy everything. There’s no beauty in that.
That said, I was travelling in Poland a year ago and after a long conversation with a born again christian girl questioning her irrational views, she came to the conclusion that I am the anti-christ.
I took it as a huge compliment
