i miss all the days we never spent together
before we knew each other and since we last saw
i miss the places we never went
and all the gifts we never bought
i miss the wars that would never be fought
who am i kidding with all this
pretending to be this and that
it takes the kind of courage
only a true coward could ever hope to have
to finally admit that
i miss you
no matter how i try
to understand and overcome
or tell myself that it was all a sweet dream
after all the dust has settled and the snows melted
new storms gather as old flames die
the polar opposite of the most twisted lies
is the cold hard fact that
i still fucking miss you
it don’t matter how many times i say it
or even if i turn my poetry into song
i can fall in love again and again
travel the world and sail the seas
see every god damn thing there is to see
beyond the poems and songs
deeper than the darkest seas
no conceptualization of love or god
can ever truly comprehend
the wrath of a man who once tasted
the sweetness of your tongue
how you howled and growled with me
through those nights of wild love
walked with me, trusted me, told me
all those things you would never tell anyone
i will remember it all
as an unsolved mystery
hear it as the greatest symphony
even when the world has gone deaf
even when i am an old man lying on death’s bed
there will be a neon bird singing my song
echoing in the black souls of the heartless
i miss you
if only you could know me now
as i sit proudly crowned
on this vacant throne of loneliness
thoughts of you
like the last drops of a waterfull
drying in ancient ruin
oh honey
i can only barely
remember your name…
and the days fading
like a forgotten dream
your face, your touch, your voice, your tears
but the feeling burns bright
firing away as synapses in my brain
the language of the destitute
waiting and praying in vein
i miss you
even when you’re here
i miss you
